Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered many notable stories such as arms control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
